Hugo Hitler Chavez Gains Decree Power

Source: AP/Yahoo!

President Hugo Chavez was granted free rein Wednesday to accelerate changes in broad areas of society by presidential decree, a move critics said propels Venezuela toward dictatorship.

Convening in a downtown plaza in a session that resembled a political rally, lawmakers unanimously gave Chavez sweeping powers to legislate by decree and impose his radical vision of a more egalitarian socialist state.
It's one thing to have a dictatorship imposed on you. It's another thing entirely to welcome it.

"Long live the sovereign people! Long live President Hugo Chavez! Long live socialism!" said National Assembly President Cilia Flores as she proclaimed the "enabling law" approved by a show of hands. "Fatherland, socialism or death! We will prevail!"
This chick gets what she deserves. I, on the other hand, am with this guy...

"If you have all the power, why do you need more power?" said Luis Gonzalez, a high school teacher who paused to watch in the plaza, calling it a "media show" intended to give legitimacy to a repugnant move. "We're headed toward a dictatorship, disguised as a democracy."
...because this scares the crap out of me...

Chavez, a former paratroop commander re-elected with 63 percent of the vote in December, has said he will decree nationalizations of Venezuela's largest telecommunications company and the electricity sector, slap new taxes on the rich, and impose greater state control over the oil and natural gas industries.

The law also allows Chavez to dictate unspecified measures to transform state institutions; reform banking, tax, insurance and financial regulations; decide on security and defense matters such as gun regulations and military organization; and "adapt" legislation to ensure "the equal distribution of wealth" as part of a new "social and economic model."
Placing so much power in the hands of one man is a recipe for disaster. Too bad there's no historic precedence from which to learn...

Gay man gets US asylum after claiming persecution in Mexico

LOS ANGELES - A Los Angeles immigration judge who previously denied a gay man's 2004 asylum bid on the grounds that the man simply could conceal his sexual orientation if he returned to his native Mexico reversed the decision Tuesday. In allowing Jorge Sota Vega to remain in the United States, Judge John D. Taylor said that gays should not be required to dress or act a certain way to avoid persecution and that Vega's lawyers proved he would be at risk if he were deported to Mexico. Vega, 38, who lived in Tuxpan and Guadalajara before he fled to the United States, said he was beaten by police and told by authorities in Mexico he would be killed. His case attracted attention from national gay rights groups after Taylor denied his application, saying that even though there was evidence suggesting Vega had faced harassment, he could live safely in Mexico because he did not look gay and could hide the fact that he was.

But wait! I thought Mexico was a charming wonderland filled with ancient delights and sugar filled ponies, mmmm, ponies, so delicious!

You want a tolerant society? Then stop importing the intolerant you idiots! (I speak to leftist liberals, of course, who don't actually want tolerance. They want to use "tolerance" as a club to achieve power so they can decide what "tolerance" is. And I assure you conservatives have no place in their new world order.)

Guard Sits On Hands Again...Invaders Emboldened!

Source: azstarnet

After the AK-47 totin' invaders drove the Guard off their post earlier in the month. Sunday night a group of invaders staged a rock attack. Our response?

Think "puling appeasement and you'll be in the ballpark!
Guard stayed at post in rock attack
Sunday incident is second involving threat to soldiers assisting on border

Armed National Guard soldiers who were attacked with rocks by unknown assailants Sunday night at an observation post south of Sells took cover but did not leave their post, Border Patrol officials said Tuesday. *snip*

No one suffered injuries in the latest encounter either. Two windows were broken in a vacant, parked National Guard vehicle, said Jesús Rodriguez, Border Patrol Tucson Sector spokesman. Officials aren't yet sure if the men were in the United States or Mexico when they threw the rocks, how many there were and if they had any weapons, he said.

The Arizona National Guard will assign an officer to investigate what happened as it does with any incident in which its soldiers faced potential danger, said Maj. Paul Aguirre, a spokesman for the Arizona National Guard. But it's important keep it in context, he said.

"There was nothing more remarkable than a couple of windows being broken out," Aguirre said.
Actually, yes it was. It was an assault on the very idea of American sovereignty. It displayed our institutional weakness for the world to see. Think they didn't notice?

Here's the thing, they may not have retreated, but they also did nothing. I'm supposed to be inspired that they allowed an attack on American soil and did nothing? I continue to be ashamed of my country and our weak willed president. If you support the president I ask you to explain this to me then? This inspires you? This makes you think he's "tough?"

I think he's a pansy ass, typical appeasing politician who's sold his nads to the highest bidder. In this case the highest bidder are those who support and profit from illegal immigration. Disagree? Then explain because I cannot support this president 1% until I understand how this isn't craven cowardice.

Once upon a time we would have sent anyone who came over our border illegally and got rowdy home in a body bag. Now we hand them a delicious cup of hot chocolate and fellate them. And they're supposed to respect us? Our laws? You're dreaming!
Rock throwings are fairly commonplace for Border Patrol agents but Sunday's assault marked the first time it happened to Guardsmen, Rodriguez said. They usually occur in places such as Nogales, Douglas and Naco where steel, landing-mat fences mark the border line. It's rare for a rock throwing to occur in a remote desert area like the one where it took place Sunday night, a few hundred feet north of the border on the Tohono O'odham Reservation south of Sells.
"Rock throwings are fairly commonplace?" Then I have to ask why shooting in response and mines on the border aren't "fairly commonplace?"

Listen for the appeasing weakness...
With as many as 80 entrance-identification teams along the border in visible posts to serve as deterrents, both Aguirre and Rodriguez agreed the assaults will likely continue.

"I think the longer we are involved in the mission there is a greater possibility that incidents like this will take place," Aguirre said.
And that's A-OK? What has to happen exactly before we can respond to this in a way that is more appropriate? Will a Guardsman or another Border Patrol agent have to die? This is a violent and ongoing invasion and our government breezily assures us there's nothing to worry about.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, a LEO on the border is going to be decapitated by a drug cartel employee in the not too distant future, what will be our response then?

"Busboys and gardeners?" "Just good folks lookin' for work?"

As the psycho contingent continues to pour over the border at what point can we begin to defend ourselves? At what point may we treat this as what it really is? A violent and dangerous colonization of the United States by a hostile force.

At what point, exactly? We need to know.

Rewarding The Bad Guy?

Source: KGBT4

Is our government at war with the Border Patrol?
David Sipe is a once convicted criminal who can honestly say he “didn’t do it.”

“Relief. Relief. After 7 years, it’s gone. It’s over.”

The ex-border patrol agent gets a 2001 guilty verdict overturned in his retrial for civil rights violations against a smuggler. The incident dates back to April of 2000 in Penitas.

“He was striking me in the side… he was very close to my weapon… and I had to do what I could to control the situation as fast as I could.”

Fearing for his life, David subdues the smuggler by hitting him with his flashlight. It results in staples to the smugglers head. A border patrol investigation is launched and deems his actions inappropriate– even illegal.

“I don’t know how they’re able to do that… but I don’t think that’s fair.”

Neither did a jury who overturns his conviction from the first trial against him.

David says the government, who he faithfully worked under for nearly 4 years, turns its back on him while rolling out the red carpet, as he puts it, for the illegals turned witnesses.

“They got to stay here and work in our country.”

The smuggler even gets a government settlement.

“80 thousand dollars… he now has his own ranch in Mexico.’

As for David– he doesn’t collect a thing. In fact, his life and family gets ripped apart.

“My house foreclosed on after having to file bankruptcy, my children having to live through this… of course my wife divorcing me.”

Through it all, he says, justice is served. And while most about David is forever changed one thing returns and it’s most important thing to him of all.

“I have my freedom back. I’m a man of honor again.”

What lead to this morning’s “not guilty” verdict reversal against the former border patrol agent? Turns out his attorney says the prosecution in the first trial suppressed evidence and lied about benefits given to “Alien” witnesses.

Attorney Jack Wolfe explains.

“They with-held evidence about their witnesses who had prior convictions…they didn’t tell us… they were supposed to tell us. In fact, they told us that they had no witnesses with convictions.”

A new trial was granted and David Sipe’s conviction was thrown out. As a result, Sipe is a free man and fighting to get his job back.
Rewarding the bad guy and punishing the good guy. Ramos and Compean aren't the first and they damn sure won't be the last. I genuinely believe our government is at war with it's people, they are trying to intimidate Americans into ceding the government power it is not entitled to. Root and branch folks, root and branch, It's time to clean out the temple and scourge the tax gatherers.

Expect To See A Lot More Of This..

Source: San Diego Union Tribune
RANCHO PENASQUITOS – Dozens of migrant workers returned to their canyon encampments Saturday afternoon to find their belongings slashed to pieces, police said yesterday.

Several small encampments throughout Rancho Peñasquitos were targeted in a string of attacks, said attorney Claudia Smith of the California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation.

“It was truly stunning to see and pick your way through maybe 100 items, and every one of them is slashed. Jackets right down the middle,” said Smith, who notified police after reports of the attacks began to pour in Saturday. “This was so vicious and so deliberate.”

San Diego police Capt. Boyd Long said the incidents were under investigation.

Officers interviewed victims yesterday and toured the encampments, including one near Rancho Peñasquitos Boulevard and state Route 56.

It was unclear if there were witnesses or how many people were responsible for the vandalism.

The destruction appeared methodical, Smith said; for example, all the pants were slashed from the crotch down the side of the leg.

Pencils, cell phone chargers and a child’s belt were not spared, she said.

“One old man kept saying to me ‘mis zapatos (my shoes),’ making a slashing movement in the air,” Smith said. “The workers were just stunned.”

Authorities say some of the encampments emerged in the area after migrants were ordered to clear out of nearby McGonigle Canyon in November.

The workers, many of whom are undocumented, had squatted on private land in McGonigle Canyon off and on for the past 20 years.

Landowners and police were working on a long-term plan to close the encampments last year, but the effort was hastened in November when residents, joined by supporters of the Minuteman Project, loudly protested the camps.

Developer D.R. Horton, one of the landowners, since has posted No Trespassing signs in McGonigle Canyon and torn down the large shantytown.

Many of the evicted migrants are believed to have relocated to Rancho Peñasquitos on land that is part of an open-space preserve and part privately owned, police said. Caltrans also owns some of the land along the freeway.
When the government won't act, the people will.

Cavalcade Of Conservatism

Katie's Dad (who we miss) brings us something interesting and useful. He calls it his "Cavalcade of Conservatism," and it is a compendium of things you need to read. In today's edition he takes a look at "Cultural Marxism." He wonders if it should be a regular feature? Yes please!

A small taste...

"If you’d like a preview of an American fascist state, look at higher education. If Hitlerism ever comes to America, it won’t be marching with crosses and Bibles, but mouthing the platitudes of multiculturalism (cultural Marxism), while goose-stepping to the beat of Sgt. Pelosi’s PC Band."

Capitol Graffiti?

Following up on this post I am still hot on the trail of pix that show the graffiti spray painted on our capitol building by Anarchist punks. After about two hours of searching last night this is as close as I've gotten...

And of course this one from the original piece...

Does anybody else think it's bizarre that these photos haven't been posted anywhere? Wouldn't they be proud of them? Something about this doesn't smell right to me. If you have any thoughts lay'em on me cuz I'm pretty puzzled by this turn of events. Have they wised up enough to realize that seeing these pictures would enrage normal Americans? I mean, I know that and you know that, but a lefty? Who live to humble and denigrate America? Magic Eight Ball sez: Unlikely!

We Welcome Our New Overlords!

"Ladies and gentlemen, uh, we've just lost the picture, but what we've seen speaks for itself. The Corvair spacecraft has apparently been taken over -- 'conquered' if you will -- by a master race of giant space ants. It's difficult to tell from this vantage point whether they will consume the captive earth men or merely enslave them. One thing is for certain: there is no stopping them; the ants will soon be here. And I for one welcome our new insect overlords. I'd like to remind them that as a trusted TV personality, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves." Kent Brockman

Desert Schools Credit Union have a message for all Americans...
...The state's largest credit union is bracing for similar fallout [to that of insignificant issue of the pesos-for-pizzas company] as it begins marketing savings accounts to undocumented immigrants.

Officials at Desert Schools Credit Union say the potential reward - thousands of new customers - justifies the risk of angering a few customers. Ignoring the state's fastest-growing population could be the equivalent of corporate suicide, one business expert said...

...The credit union offers reassurances that account holders will still have access to the funds, even if they're deported, [Emma Garcia, Desert Schools director of community development] said, a fear that with the passage of legislation like Proposition 200 is becoming more prevalent within the Hispanic community.

"They're afraid that that institution will partner with the Department of Homeland Security and report to them who's in an undocumented situation or not," Garcia said. "We're not going to be required to notify an agency if we find out they're undocumented. We're not required by law to do that."
If even in Arizona our "fastest growing" population is illegal aliens?

Then we are no longer an actual country and we need to stop pretending that we are and simply welcome our new overlords and be done with it. If the largest growth segment in any part of this country is illegal aliens and our government approves? Then it is beyond clear that we require a new government. And most of all, if illegal aliens are the fastest growing segment of the population?

How do you not call that an invasion?

I keep askin', and nobody ever answers but, how does this end without violence?

Addition To The Blogroll

Claimheamh has been added to the blogroll. Which of course means you should never, ever click over and check it out! :P

It appears the name 'Claimheamh' either refers to a big ass sword or a venereal disease, so it's hard to tell what the names' supposed to mean!

In scrolling through his blog I was struck by something he wrote in a piece entitled: Who am I to have a blog?

He writes...

I am not a high ranking member of government, nor a political pundit, I am not a history professor. I’m not the brightest flare in the pack; neither am I the dimmest. I don’t make a lot of money, and I could be called an “expert” in few categories.

What I am is often talked about but rarely heeded - I’m a working class American. I’m one of those “The American people” that somehow is a group well apart from our elected non-elected officials.

And this is exactly, exactly what we need more of, average Americans (who by the way I think are pretty damn smart as a rule) speaking out against the nonsense on stilts that permeates our society.

We have allowed the "experts" to hold sway for quite a while now and I think that experiment has been a miserable failure. I think the time has come for the 'punditocracy' to be challenged by the 'schmoeocracy.'

We couldn't possibly do worse.

As an aside, when I had finished my first manuscript I mentioned that fact to my sister who asked me, and I quote: who are you to write a book?

I've always wondered, because if I asked I'd probably have to punch her and that could be problematic holidays-wise, where exactly she thought authors came from? Harvard? Grown from special gourds? Imported from French Guyana?

UIC Anti-Marine Recruiting Protest

Sorry this took so long to post, my wickedly expensive multimedia computer decided it didn't want to make videos today so it shut itself down every time I attempted to create the movie. Yay for technology! Yay!

I traveled to University Of Illinois Chicago today to see what the commie kids were up too. They had an advert up at Chicago Indymedia asking people to join them to protest those deliciously eeeeevil Reichwing Marines as they held down a recruiting table at the college.

Lots of entertaining stuff in the video, but you have to watch it through til the end. I saved the best for last...

What's With The Either/Or?

Source: LATimes
SAN DIEGO — Seven of the largest tunnels discovered under the U.S.-Mexico border in recent years have yet to be filled in, authorities said, raising concerns because smugglers have tried to reuse such passages before.

Among the unfilled tunnels, created to ferry people and drugs, is the longest one yet found — extending nearly half a mile from San Diego to Tijuana. Nearby, another sophisticated passageway once known as the Taj Mahal of tunnels has been sitting unfilled for 13 years, authorities say.
Of which John J. Miller at NRO asks: Before the federal government starts building new walls along the Mexican border, perhaps it should first fill in old tunnels.

You know, and this is just crazy talk, we could do both!

But Wait, There's More!

Source: LATimes
Costa Mesa's illegal-immigration crackdown highlights the fears of many

In a city that has clashed loudly and publicly over immigration laws, the arrest of Marcelino Tzir Tzul underscored the worst fears in Costa Mesa's Latino community. The 37-year-old illegal immigrant from Guatemala was picked up for riding his bicycle on the wrong side of the street, brought before a federal agent at the city jail and then shipped to a federal lockup to await his likely deportation. For months, Latino activists had worried that Costa Mesa's decision to become one of the nation's first cities to enforce federal immigration laws would result in people such as Tzir being swept off the streets. "This is exactly what we feared," said Amin David, who heads Los Amigos of Orange County, a Latino advocacy group. But others, including the mayor of Costa Mesa, applaud the crackdown, even if it means that people who have committed minor crimes are caught in the process.
Many? Many who? Many of the newspaper staff perhaps? Who feel that illegal immigrants are "secret Americans" who were magically blown over the border by a tsunami, and that tsunami's name is JUSTICE!! (or retard socialism, you decide)

Okay, I reiterate, illegal aliens have no right to be here. Hence, it is perfectly appropriate to pick an illegal alien up and deport them from this country, no matter what. They don't even have to commit a crime, though conveniently they already have. Don't believe me?

Then feast your eyes...

Care to make a wager with me as to whether or not these laws have been repealed?

Illegal immigrants have the "right" to be deported for anything after that see "Jake's Ham Sammich Rule."

To wit...

Mexican Consulate says police profiled illegal immigrants

Source: dfw.com
DALLAS - A spokesman for the Mexican Consulate of Dallas says police in North and East Texas profiled illegal immigrants and exceeded their authority in checking the immigrants' residency status. Consulate officials blamed the increased scrutiny on "Operation Wrangler," a plan announced last week by Gov. Rick Perry to crack down on drug and human smuggling along the Mexican border with coordinated law enforcement throughout the state. Eduardo Rea Falcon, a Consulate spokesman, said Mexican officials believe 33 of 47 men, women and children held over the weekend at a federal immigration center in Dallas were profiled by police.
Um, good?

More profiling please, faster -- faster! Chop Chop!

I love these arguments because they're so poorly framed. An illegal immigrant has no fundamental right to be here, so can they really be profiled? Is that even possible? To me it always comes back to citizenship, and if ya ain't, don't expect the rights that only come to citizens.

Your civil rights are conveniently located back in your home country.

Go get'em!

I Crap You Negative

The Islamic religion prohibits Muslims from facing or turning their backs on the Kiblah — the direction of prayer — when they visit the lav.

Muslim lags claimed they have had to sit sideways on prison WCs.

But after pressure from faith leaders the Home Office has agreed to turn the existing toilets 90 degrees at HMP Brixton in London.

The Home Office refused to reveal the cost of the new facilities — part of an “on-going refurbishment”.
A Brixton jail officer had a refreshing suggestion...

“If they didn’t get locked up for committing crime they would not have this problem."
I'd ask what's next on the superhighway to dhimmitude, but I'm afraid of what the answer might be.

P.S. If anyone knows what "lag" means, please leave a definition in comments. I searched several British slang dictionaries online, and got nothing. ( 8-)

A Quickie!

Puff -- Puff, just back from an anti-recruiter protest at UIC. I had a bit of a crazy morning as the slugs on Indymedia said it would start around 9 am, when in reality world it started at 11. I suppose this shows what passes for reality amongst our Socialist/Communist brethren.

Of course this left me with time and a hungry belly to fill so I did what any sane person would do...A Greasy Diner Breakfast!

I have some great video which I am slicing and dicing as we speak and before I get back to the editing salt mines I wanted to post something I was supposed to put up yesterday but forgot, I am a bad blogger, bad -- bad -- bad!

Our good blog pal Bucktown Dusty has a new piece up at his place. He takes a look at the "ghetto fabulous" parties held at several colleges recently...here. Check it out, Dusty does some great writing over there.

Here's a funny photo series from a test video we were shooting last night.

This is MJ before the disaster. The thing behind her is our "greenscreen."

She becomes aware that not all is as it should be, an evil presence is preparing to pounce!

Ahhhh!

All better!

Who was the author of this wanton destruction? This guy right here. Sure he looks cute but that's just to draw you in so he can smash not terribly expensive lighting and claw you when you least expect it!

Don't let the cuteness deceive ya folks, he's evil, pure frickin evil!

I don't know, you think we should go to full time cat blogging? Our cats are certainly evil enough to qualify for full time surveillance. More in depth photos of pure frickin' evil...here.

Back to the editing salt mines for me, will have video and more posting later!

A Disturbing Theme

There is a disturbing theme running through the country right now, a disturbing and dangerous theme.

Jake recently posted on the anarchist twits who were allowed to deface the Capitol steps in Washington during last weekend's anti-war protest. Yesterday Maj. Gen. David Rataczak addressed the Arizona Legislature on this month's border incursion and the National Guard's response.

“They did exactly what they were told to do,” said Rataczak, adding that the actions of the soldiers prevented an international incident from occurring.
I beg to differ, Gen. Rataczak. An international incident did occur. Our border was breached by armed criminals who were spotted by our law enforcement and permitted to cross back into Mexico unmolested. Do you really think that this will decrease the chances of it happening again?

What the hell is wrong with us? Since when is it the American way to stand back and let a bunch of stinky protesters spraypaint the steps of the Capitol? Since when is it OK for the police to be ordered to mutely watch the vandals mug for the camera next to their aerosol "expressions," then have to clean up after them to boot?

What message did it send to the criminals who breach our southern border on a regular basis to watch our National Guardsmen "relocate to a nearby site?" I guarantee you it wasn't that it's too dangerous to traverse the border, let's find some other criminal endeavor to occupy our time.

If you happened upon your kid stealing money stashed in your sock drawer, would you step back into the shadows and quietly watch him do it, then expect him to not to do it again? It's absurd.

I don't want protesters to be tear-gassed (well, OK, maybe THESE protesters, just a little!), but it would have been the best response to them breaking through the police line and whipping out their spraypaint.

I don't want shots fired on the border. I do, however, think it's inevitable. It's going to happen. If you think it's avoidable at this point, I have to suggest that you trade in your rose-colored glasses for a pair that's crystal clear.

And the more we "relocate to another site" now, the bigger and uglier it's going to be when the bullets start flying.

Beyond Parody

This just in from Chris Hodges, Senior Fellow at The Nation Institute and a gibbering loon...(via volokh)
This is the awful paradox of tolerance. There arise moments when those who would destroy the tolerance that makes an open society possible should no longer be tolerated. They must be held accountable by institutions that maintain the free exchange of ideas and liberty.

The radical Christian Right must be forced to include other points of view to counter their hate talk in their own broadcasts, watched by tens of millions of Americans. They must be denied the right to demonize whole segments of American society, saying they are manipulated by Satan and worthy only of conversion or eradication. They must be made to treat their opponents with respect and acknowledge the right of a fair hearing even as they exercise their own freedom to disagree with their opponents.

Passivity in the face of the rise of the Christian Right threatens the democratic state. And the movement has targeted the last remaining obstacles to its systems of indoctrination, mounting a fierce campaign to defeat hate-crime legislation, fearing the courts could apply it to them as they spew hate talk over the radio, television and Internet.
Those damn Christians! I told you they were trouble, did you listen, no!

It is truly beyond parody when a leftist asshat suggests rounding up Christians into reeducation camps and then has the chutzpah to title his piece "American Fascists." And all this after a weekend when the retarded left spray painted graffiti on our nation's capitol!

Is irony truly dead in America? Freedom Folks readers want to know!

Fauxtography and Metaphysics

Michael J. Totten has busted another bizarre example of fauxtography at his site. I won't even attempt to explain it to you, I couldn't do it justice...Here.

Whenever I see examples of this I'm reminded of the power of the press. I think "what is really real?" If no one sees something, did it happen? If a bear craps in the woods and no one's there is it still stinky?

Which brings us to another example of this phenomenon. Daniel Pipes recently went to England to debate 'Red Ken', the mayor of London on the subject "clash of civilizations" between the west and Islam.

Melanie Phillips reports that some 150 journalists attended the event expecting Mr. Pipes to receive a thorough spanking from "Red Ken." But that didn't happen, in fact reports indicate that Pipes stomped 'Red Ken' like a red assed babboon.

And then nothing. The British press has of this date printed nothing about the debate and only a small handful of American outlets have printed anything thus far, Mr. Pipes has posted links at his site.

So why won't the press report on this event?

Melanie Phillips sez "It was a defeat for the totalitarian left and a move towards sanity and decency. And that, no doubt, is why it has not been reported."

Seems as likely as any other reason. What I find fascinating is the Orwellian aspect of all this. If the press doesn't report something like this it is left to the blogs to do so, yet if you mention it in polite company that you know of something because you are "on blog time" they will look at you as you believe in black helicopters.

Yet, the only uncensored news that exists is the blogs. I know the first time I was clicking through the links I came across one blogger who had contacted several of the British media outlets and asked why no coverage for the Pipes -- Galloway debate, "not newsworthy" they replied. (and of course I cannot find that link again to save my life!)

Not newsworthy? Really? Then why did 150 journalists sign up and attend? It sounds as if they thought it just might be newsworthy.

The reason the first Matrix movie was so successful was its skillful play on the idea of "what is reality?" The reason #'s two and three bit monkey ass is that they just as quickly dropped that theme and made low rent Superman movies.

The real question these days is "what reality do you subscribe to?"

The old media reality where they decide what you need to know and how much you need to know, then attempt to spoon feed it to you. Or the "blog time" version, where you learn of all these interesting and amazing events the Three Monkey Media can't be bothered to relate.

So, what reality do you subscribe to?

Human nature And Biases

In a piece filed today at NRO Andy McCarthy takes a hard shot at Border Patrol agents Ramos Compean. The title of the piece says it all...
The Border-Patrol Two Deserve Jail
I'm not knocking Mr. McCarthy believe it or not, he's one of my favorite writer's at NRO and I respect his opinion deeply. But I did think it was interesting that of two prosecutors I've read on this issue both supported Johnny Sutton in a way that seemed almost reflexive.

Patterico's Ponderings, a blog operated by (I believe) an LA prosecutor also tended to side with Mr. Sutton...Here. With a follow up piece...here.

I reiterate, I'm not slamming these guys, I just found it interesting that they both fell on the side of the prosecutor, I tend to think it's simple human nature and bias at work. Which isn't to say I think they're wrong.

I don't know for a certainty that the agents aren't guilty. I have seen and heard enough that I have very serious doubts about every aspect of this case, and the way the government handled their case left me with grave doubts about the intent of this prosecution. This president's stubborn refusal to do anything to secure our Southern border, coupled with what I, and many folks feel, is a preference for Mexicans over Americans, and a further preference for cheap labor for his cronies makes us wonder if this prosecution wasn't an attempt to frustrate and weaken Border Patrol agents. After a conviction like this BP agents will be one of two things, more hesitant, or, when force is used more likely to bring in a body instead of a suspect.

I support the agents this far 100%, I would like to see the whole she-bang get a review from an impartial investigator. Because to me something stinks about this prosecution, which is also the conclusion Patterico came to in his review in the second piece, with the caveat: if the points were true, and that's fair.

I wasn't there, you weren't there, we're all trusting someone to tell us the truth. I just hope against hope that the agents will get a fair hearing, though under this administration I won't be holding my breath.

What Is The Desperation In The Bush Family...

For illegal immigration? It's like the whole bunch are just truly, madly in love with illegal aliens. Mark Steyn reports from the NRO confab last weekend that Jeb Bush had this to say on the subject...
"...he said illegal immigrants impose no extra costs except in health care and education."
Well gee, those are the two biggies, and yet oddly, right off the cuff I can think of another place illegals impose costs, our legal system. If their not supposed to be here every nickel we spend to catch and incarcerate illegal alien criminals is money stolen directly from our taxes. Not to mention the little detail of Americans suffering rapes, murders and pedophiles and teensy stuff like ID theft from folks who AREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE HERE!!! But let's not sweat the details, right?

What is the desperate love affair with our entire elite ruling class and illegal aliens?

Is it their minty freshness?

Do they simply provide the best frothy cappuccino's?

Well, this humble blogger doesn't know, but it's as clear as a bell that our elite haircuts have a serious woody for illegals.

Rich Lowry, a noted supporter of illegal immigration had this to say on the former governor's speech...
Finally, he was utterly comfortable taking on the audience on immigration when it came up during the Q I'm hoping he's a conservative leader for a long time to come.
Oh goody, finally a conservative politician who supports illegal immigration! What a shocking rarity. Who has ever heard of a conservative politician, a Republican supporting illegal immigration? This is all new!

Thank you Jeb Bush for "taking on" conservatives on immigration, I'm sure we rubes need to have it 'splained to us.

Governor Jeb Bush struggles to decide which flag he serves.

Civ-Cons?

John Fonte has an interesting read up over at NRO today. He attempts to find the common denominators among the various branches of conservatism regarding the immigration issues that appear ready to tear conservatives, and by extension, the Republican party apart at the seams.

My favorite bit, and a tale that can't be told enough IMHO...
Despite the Republican “thumping” in the ’06 elections, civic
conservative issues triumphed. Michigan passed Ward Connerly’s
referendum outlawing racial, ethnic, and gender preferences by 58
percent in the face of strong establishment resistance. It was
foolishly opposed by the Republican candidates for senator and
governor, both of whom lost their elections. Arizona rejected official
bilingualism by making English the state’s language with a majority of
74 percent. About half the state’s Latinos supported the referendum.

The truth is a large majority of this country is conservative in its gut, though it may kick and scream at the designation. Living as we do in a big blue city we know plenty of people that are "progressive" as the day is long until you come down to cases and then, whoops! They turn out to be raging conservatives.

The "Stinky Feet" Jihad?

Source: herald sun

Muslims in the west continue to push for special treatment. Here's one that must qualify for the oddest example...
A ROW has erupted over Muslim-only washrooms at La Trobe University that can be accessed only with a secret push-button code.

Muslim students have exclusive access to male and female washrooms on campus, sparking claims of bias and discrimination.

Victorian Muslim community leader Yasser Soliman said the washrooms were necessary…

“Muslims need to wash their feet before prayer and in the past there have been complaints about them washing their feet in sinks, so this is a happy medium,” he said.
Who knew segregated washrooms were a good thing?

Venezuela: Oh Yeah This Is Going To End Well!

Source: The rather confused Wall Street Journal (why confused? Well, they lambast socialism abroad yet think nothing of importing mass numbers of socialists to our shores.)
Venezuela might have the hardest time pursuing the assertive foreign policy of President Hugo Chávez, a populist and former army officer, if oil prices were to drop much more. Over the past few years, Mr. Chávez has used oil money to try to counter what he sees as harmful U.S. influence in Latin America. Caracas has helped finance some neighbors' debt, and it has handed out cut-rate oil to dozens of countries, including Fidel Castro's Cuba — and even some U.S. communities through the state oil company's Citgo subsidiary.

Unlike Russia, and to a lesser extent Iran, Venezuela has been much more reckless in spending its oil windfall. Last year alone, public spending grew 43%, widening the gap between total government income and outlays to about 1.5% of the total economy, according to estimates by Morgan Stanley.

So far, falling oil prices haven't dented Mr. Chávez's spending habits. Just last week, he announced a program to send 100,000 poor Venezuelans each year to vacation in Cuba. He also recently offered the army's services to build a road in Nicaragua at a projected cost of $350 million.

While economists agree that Mr. Chávez's free-spending policies may eventually shipwreck the Venezuelan economy, they say that won't happen — if it happens at all — for at least another year. The main reason: Venezuela has accumulated more than $36 billion of reserves.

But there are signs Mr. Chávez could be headed for trouble, even without a much bigger drop in oil prices. He recently ordered an increase in gasoline prices — which the government has long subsidized — to raise federal revenue. And some economists view his recent nationalization of Venezuela's biggest telephone and electric companies as a sign his administration is eager to raise more money to keep up its spending.

A further drop in oil prices, then, might leave Mr. Chávez with some tough choices about where to trim the fat. High on the list would be his foreign aid. By far the chief beneficiary of Mr. Chávez's largess is Cuba, which receives 103,000 barrels a day of refined petroleum products in exchange for the services of Cuban doctors and other specialists. Analysts believe aid to Cuba totals about $3 billion a year.
Bread and circuses folks, but have no fear, when their economy tanks we'll take all the "willing workers" they have to offer. You know, the mental giants who voted this clown into office!

Yay!

Language barrier stings prosecutors

The three men gave brief, sometimes- disjointed statements to officers. Then they entered a courtroom where a judge entered a plea of not guilty on their behalf. That was nearly a year ago. Since then, the three human-smuggling suspects have sat in jail while attorneys and court staff try to figure out what language they speak.

A Maricopa County Superior Court judge ruled Friday that the charges against the men will be dropped if the courts can’t find someone to translate trial proceedings into the men’s indigenous languages by Feb. 14.

It would be another blow to Attorney General Terry Goddard’s plan to target smugglers by investigating their wire transfers.

Earlier this month, Western Union got a different judge to partly halt the program, citing constitutional issues. The case against the three men appears solid.

On March 6, investigators followed two vans leaving a Western Union office in Mesa that is known to be used by smugglers. Those vans went to a Wal-Mart parking lot.

When officers approached the vans, according to a Department of Public Safety report, one of the drivers, Roberto Santis-Lopez, fought briefly with officers before he was handcuffed.

Another person in one of the vans directed officers to a nearby apartment complex. There, inside two units, officers found 63 undocumented immigrants, mostly from the Mexican state of Chiapas. According to the report, their smuggling value was $113,400.

Miguel Gomez-Santis answered the door of the first apartment. Andreas Aguilar-Sanchez was hiding in the shower of the second apartment. Police suspected the two were smugglers because their clothing was clean, while the immigrants’ attire was dirty. Immigrants also described the men as having free run of the apartment and watching television.

But almost immediately, the language barrier showed itself. Transcripts of initial interviews with the men show they gave odd and unresponsive answers to the Spanish-language questions posed by officers.
Know what works in any language?

Some Bad Ideas Just Won't Die

Source: Nevada Appeal

Kirk Caraway fresh off a three day bender decides to scribble down his lunatic ravings...
When it comes to illegal immigration, maybe we should take a page from the marijuana proponents' playbook, and just legalize it.

Now, before you all go looking for a rope and a tall tree to hang me from, hear me out.

Like drugs, illegal immigration is similar to a flowing river. You can try to dam it up, but if there is enough water (workers) and slope (jobs), it will find a way downstream.
And Kirk? If enough people wanted to rape your wife and daughter, would that be unstoppable as well?
Unlike drugs, the flow of immigrant labor contributes to our economy. If you could send all of the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants back to their home countries, there would be a huge economic hit. Thousands of businesses would close, from meatpacking plants in the Midwest to casinos in Las Vegas to restaurants in New York.
All evidence to the contrary, of course!
Some would argue that getting rid of the undocumented workers would give jobs to unemployed Americans. But there are more undocumented workers than unemployed Americans, and you can't just plug them into the types of jobs the immigrants do.
Two things you retard jackass, the first is that it is not the job but the wage Americans object too. Second, how many jobs are redundant and simply created because labor is so very cheap?

Now we get to the fun stuff...
First, you have to stop the black market for labor. You do that by giving work permits to any immigrant who is not a felon.

Then you institute an immigration tax, where businesses would pay, say, 20 percent of any immigrant worker's salary to the government (split between federal, state and local) to help offset the costs of supporting these non-citizens.

Legalizing immigrant labor has many benefits. Immigrants who are not felons will not risk sneaking across the border - or paying smugglers - if they can come across legally, get their new free work permits, and be off on their merry way.
The problem in debating this is that it's too dumb. The very definition of an immigration policy is to discriminate. It is discriminatory by its very nature. So this undoes the common sense measures that all countries must take to protect themselves, their borders, their people and their culture and allows the immigrants to guide and shape our policy.

Not a good idea as we see with the fatally flawed family reunification policies currently in place.

Second, true libertarians must be required to take a massive blow to the head before signing on the dotted line. Is there any number too large to take? What if two billion people showed up for permits? Shall we let them go "off on their merry way?"

If people like this had their way, and by "people like this" I am of course talking about the president, because this is precisely what his plan would do, there would be no America left.

Just an economic trading zone that looked an awful lot like India.

The New American Truth?

Source: thehill

I'm sure you've gathered by now that it really torks me off when we back off our border to allow quicker and easier access to drug smugglers and illegal aliens. Well, here's the same song, second verse...
Anti-war protesters spray paint Capitol building

Anti-war protesters were allowed to spray paint on part of the west front steps of the United States Capitol building after police were ordered to break their security line by their leadership, two sources told The Hill.

According to the sources, police officers were livid when they were told to fall back by U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) Chief Phillip Morse andDeputy Chief Daniel Nichols. "They were the commanders on the scene," one source said, who requested anonymity. "It was disgusting."

After police ceded the stairs, located on the lower west front of the Capitol, the building was locked down, the source added.

A second source who witnessed the incident said that the police had the crowd stopped at Third Street, but were told to bring the police line in front of the Capitol.

Approximately 300 protesters were allowed to take the steps and began to spray paint "anarchist symbols" and phrase such as "Our capitol building" and "you can’t stop us" around the area, the source said.

Morse responded to these claims in an e-mail Sunday afternoon explaining that the protesters were seeking confrontation with the police.

"While there were minor instances of spray painting of pavement by a splinter group of Anarchists who were seeking a confrontation with the police, their attempts to breach into secure areas and rush the doors of the Capitol were thwarted," Morse said. "The graffiti was easily removed by the dedicated [Architect of the Capitol] staff, some of whom responded on their day off to quickly clean the area."

He added, "It is the USCP's duty and responsibility to protect the Capitol complex, staff and public while allowing the public to exercise their First Amendment rights … at the end of the day, both occurred without injury to protestors or officers."

Yet, the sources who talked to The Hill were furious that protesters were not stopped before reaching the Capitol.

"To get that close to the Capitol building, that is ridiculous," the second source said. "[Police] were told not to arrest anyone."

The second source added that police had to stand by and watch as protesters posed in front of their graffiti.
I don't know about you? But I read this and think of Rome sick and teetering, unable to lift a hand in its own defense.

Here's a photo of the goons rushing the capitol.

How long until they're emboldened enough to attempt this armed?

Cap'n Ed sez: "Laughably, the DC police chief tries to paint this as a victory, especially the fact that he roused Capitol Hill workers to clean up the graffiti. A victory would have had the offenders cleaning it up while under arrest. Instead of issuing self-serving rationalizations, Chief Morse ought to issue an apology to Washington DC, and perhaps consider adding his resignation to it."

These colors don't run? Oh really?

No Ballistics Match in Ramos & Compean Case

Source: WND

Ballistics reports, used in the trial of Ignacio "Nacho" Ramos, one of two Border Patrol agents convicted of shooting fleeing drug dealer Osbaldo Aldrete-Davila, do not support the prosecution's claim the bullet was fired from Ramos' gun, according to documents provided to WND from Andy Ramirez, Chairman of the Friends of the Border Patrol.

Despite the conclusion of a laboratory criminalist that he could not conclusively link the bullet removed from Aldrete-Davila with Ramos' service weapon, a Department of Homeland Security agent swore, in an affidavit of complaint filed against Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean, that Aldrete-Davila was hit by a round fired by Ramos.
Something is rotten in the state of Texas, and his name is Johnny Sutton.

"Johnny Sutton and his assistants are guilty of malicious prosecution," Ramirez charged to WND. "The prosecutors lied to the jury and he twisted evidence to make it fit his case. And when he couldn't twist the evidence, the government demanded that the court seal evidence which would have been exculpatory to the defense."
We previously reported that, in September of last year, the Department of Homeland Security made some serious allegations against Ramos & Compean. They promised documentation backing them up to four U.S. congressman -- documentation they have never produced.

In an affidavit filed by DHS on March 15, 2005, with the U.S. District Court in the Western District of Texas, special agent Christopher R. Sanchez swore the following:

Ballistics testing confirms a government-issued weapon belonging to U.S. Border Patrol Agent Ignacio "Nacho" Ramos, a 96D Beretta .40 caliber automatic pistol, serial number BER067069M, fired a bullet (a .40 caliber Smith & Wesson jacketed hollow point) which hit the victim in the left buttocks while he was attempting to flee to Mexico.

The second document, a ballistics report completed by the Texas Department of Public Safety, interests Ramirez both because of the agency that did the testing and the results of the test.

"For some unexplained reason, U.S. Attorney Sutton had the ballistics test performed by the Texas Department of Public Safety in El Paso, rather than by the FBI," he said. "This was a federal issue that should have gone to the FBI and only to the FBI. The Texas Department of Public Safety had no business running a ballistics report on a federal case. The FBI handles all shooting incidents, whether it involves assaults or otherwise, concerning federal agents. DPS should have refused the case and demanded that the bullet be picked up by the FBI for analysis.
Ramirez points out several glaring questions that should have been answered long ago -- and certainly before the end of the trial. Why was the bullet tested by a state agency rather than the FBI? Why did Sanchez swear that the bullet was fired by Ramos with no ballistics evidence to back it up? WND also questions why, after receiving U.S. medical treatment, Davila was released into the personal custody of -- you guessed it -- Christopher Sanchez, and WND has been unable to find out the chain of events after he was released from the hospital.

Too many questions, too few answers, and two too many Border Patrol agents serving time in federal prison.

This Is How It Happens!

Source: napavalleyregister

PHOENIX -- More than any other police boss in Arizona, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio has pushed the bounds of what local officers can do to crack down on illegal immigration -- and he's frustrated that he can't do more.

He created a special unit to enforce an Arizona law that made immigrant smuggling a state crime, sent a 250-member posse into the desert to search for human smugglers and sought a legal opinion allowing him to arrest not only smugglers but also their customers.

But Arpaio is bothered that his deputies can't make immigration arrests when coming across suspected illegal immigrants in traffic stops and other police calls, so he is among a rising number of local police bosses seeking the power to charge people with immigration violations.

"Right now, if you came across an illegal, law enforcement would have to stop everything, call (federal immigration agents) and hope they come over and pick up that person," Arpaio said. "They usually don't respond to pick up one person."

While state and local law enforcement have generally stayed out of immigration enforcement in the past, 42 agencies across the country are now asking the federal government to train officers to make immigration arrests and speed up deportations. Many more departments have expressed interest in the training.

A total of 188 police and corrections officers from eight agencies have been granted that power since 2002. If all pending applications for the federal power are approved, officials estimated the total could reach as high as 530.

A deal expected to be approved in the coming weeks would grant that power to about 160 patrol and jail officers in Arpaio's department, marking the largest one-time addition in the effort. His county, which includes Phoenix, is a hub for transporting illegal immigrants across the country.

Immigration analysts say interest in such agreements is growing because the public is getting more frustrated with America's broken immigration system.

Federal officials, who attribute the increasing interest in the training to recruiting efforts, said local police recognize that the broadened powers will help make communities safer.

"It's a force multiplier," said Marcy Forman, director of investigations for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the federal agency responsible for immigration enforcement beyond the border.

The move would put state and local officers one step closer to the frontline in the battle against illegal immigration.

State and local officers in the field could make immigration arrests while carrying out their regular duties, but couldn't set up roadblocks, conduct raids or take actions for the sole purpose of making immigration arrests. Only two state agencies currently have that power, accounting for two-thirds of all officers with the training.

Officers also could participate in federal task forces whose duties include cracking down on fake documents used by illegal immigrants and border-crossers who fraudulently seek government benefits.

The training for jail and prison officers is designed to speed up the deportations of criminal immigrants after they complete sentences on state violations, reducing local corrections costs because it gets them in the hands of federal authorities quicker.

Corrections officers can determine through questioning and database checks whether the presence of inmates is lawful and can charge violators with being in the country illegally.

Of the 42 agencies applying for the federal authority, 21 are seeking the powers for jail officers, 14 for making immigration arrests and seven want both.

Supporters said local officers should join the fight because Immigration and Customs Enforcement has only 5,800 agents to enforce immigration law in the nation's interior.

Since October 2005, more than 9,000 people were put in deportation proceedings through the efforts of state and local officers who received the training, officials said.

Opponents said local enforcement could ruin the trust police officers have built in immigrant communities and could lead to racial profiling.

"Our experience is that when local police engaged in that activity, there are civil rights violations," said Michele Waslin, director of immigration policy research for the National Council of La Raza, a group that promotes Hispanic issues.

The training includes lessons on immigration law, anti-racial profiling efforts and instructions on questioning people about their immigration status without violating civil rights. The classes last four to five weeks.

A 1996 law opened up the possibility for local officers to be trained for immigration enforcement, but it wasn't until 2002 that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement became the first agency to get approval for the broader powers.

Mark Zadra, the Florida department's special agent in charge of domestic security and intelligence, said his agency's deal allowed it to invoke the federal power only during homeland security investigations.

The department doesn't crack down on rank-and-file illegal immigrants who come to the United States to support their families, Zadra said.

The Alabama Department of Public Safety, which has a less restrictive approach than the Florida agency, weaves its immigration work into the daily routines of some of its highway troopers and supervisors at driver's license offices.

Massachusetts had agreed late last year to train 30 state troopers to make immigration arrests, but the newly elected governor is rescinding the policy. Officials are renegotiating the deal with the goal to train corrections officers instead.

Though his office has arrested more than 380 illegal border-crossers in the last 10 months under Arizona's anti-smuggling law, Arpaio noted the law allows him to only target people involved in smuggling.

The sheriff said he needs the broader federal powers to target those who are already living here illegally. "I will do anything I can to keep fighting this problem," Arpaio said.
I reiterate: Washington Is Not Our Savior
